Complaints & Appeals
The Proceedings of Science and Nature Research provides a clear route for authors, reviewers, or readers to raise concerns or appeal editorial decisions, consistent with COPE's guidance on complaints and appeals.
Appealing an Editorial Decision
Authors who wish to appeal a decision to reject a manuscript, or who disagree with the outcome of peer review, may submit a written appeal to the editorial office, explaining in detail the grounds for the appeal and responding to the specific concerns raised by reviewers or the editor. Appeals based solely on disagreement with a reviewer's scientific judgement, without new evidence or argument, are unlikely to succeed.
Appeals are considered by the editor together with, where appropriate, an independent member of the editorial board who was not involved in the original decision. The outcome of an appeal is final.
Other Complaints
Complaints regarding the conduct of the journal, its editors, reviewers, or staff, or concerns about possible research or publication misconduct in a submitted or published article, may be sent in writing to the editorial office. All complaints are treated confidentially and are investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines, and a substantive response will be provided within a reasonable time.
