Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers for the Proceedings of Science and Nature Research are asked to provide a fair, constructive, rigorous, and timely assessment of the manuscripts assigned to them, in keeping with COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.

What Reviewers Should Assess

  • The originality and significance of the work for the field of nature conservation and environmental science;
  • The soundness of the study design, methodology, and statistical analysis;
  • Whether the conclusions are adequately supported by the data presented;
  • The clarity, organization, and quality of the writing;
  • Whether ethical approvals, permits, and data availability statements are appropriately reported.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts under review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not share a manuscript, or discuss its contents, with anyone not authorized by the editor, and must not use information obtained through the review process for personal advantage.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers should decline an invitation to review if they have a financial, personal, professional, or institutional conflict of interest with the authors or the funding source of the work, or if they cannot complete the review within the requested timeframe.

Timeliness

Reviewers are asked to complete reviews within 3–4 weeks of accepting an invitation. Reviewers who anticipate a delay should notify the editorial office as early as possible.
